2017 Barrel Select Pinot Noir

As a vintage ages in french oak, each barrel develops uniquely and imparts its own qualities on the maturing wine. That’s why our founder, David Teppola, developed our barrel-select process many years ago, a method we follow to this day.

The 2017 vintage was an exciting vintage of Barrel Select because it was the first year that our Estate, Finn Hill Vineyard, produced a crop of Pinot noir since 2006. That meant that when it came time to blend our Barrel Select we were finally able to include Estate fruit in the blend. This vintage also contains, Menefee Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton AVA and Zenith Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills. The resulting blend of the three vineyards strikes the perfect balance between forest floor and dark delicious fruit. This bottle has been a standout favorite on our wine list since its release in 2020.

Vintage Information:

2017 felt like a return to a more classic Oregon year, despite some warm events throughout the summer. Summer conditions in the Willamette Valley were warm and consistent, but without the heat spikes of the few previous years. The harvest was long as cooler weather and hazy air quality slowed down the ripening of the grapes. Overall a wonderful vintage with ripe, developed flavor profiles in addition to being well-balanced.

Serving Recommendations:
