As a vintage ages in french oak, each barrel develops uniquely and imparts its own qualities on the maturing wine. That’s why our founder, David Teppola, developed our barrel-select process many years ago, a method we follow to this day. When it came time to bottle this 2016 Pinot Noir, our winemaker evaluated each barrel, and then blended only the best in a way that highlights the finest qualities of the vintage. Our 2016 barrel select strikes the perfect balance between savory earth notes and ripe delicious fruit. For those looking to enjoy an exceptionally well-balanced 2016 Willmette Valley Pinot Noir, look no further.
Vintage Information:
2016 was an absolutely beautiful growing year that lead to a well-balanced and concentrated wines. An early bud break lead to an early harvest and much like 2015 vintage, the fruit we brought in was picture perfect. Summer conditions in the Willamette Valley were warm and consistent, but without the heat spikes of the few previous years. This preserved the acidity that brings balance to our Pinot noirs. We also had smaller yields than both 2014 and 2015 and the berry size was moderate leading to more concentrated flavors. Overall there is an incredible energy to these wines, they show incredible balance and promise for cellaring.
